SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals

SDG 17 emphasises the meaning of partnerships for sharing knowledge, pooling competencies, and effectively implementing sustainable development.

At USTP, we cultivate this approach through national and international cooperations that allow us to think and further develop sustainability across institutional borders. In this context, we would like to introduce two central collaborations here:

E³UDRES² – European Collaboration for Sustainable Development

As the coordinator of the European University Alliance E³UDRES², USTP works on joint initiatives in teaching, research, and innovation with partner institutions all over Europe. As a connecting cross-cutting topic, sustainability is addressed in diverse projects and working groups – for example, through common guidelines and measures for the promotion of sustainable development in higher education.

Alliance for Sustainable Higher Education Institutions

At the national level, USTP is part of the “Bündnis für Nachhaltige Hochschulen” (alliance for sustainable universities) where it has also been a member of the board since October 2025. The network promotes exchange between Austrian higher education institutions and supports the joint further development of sustainable structures and strategies in the higher education sector.

Partnerships such as these show: Sustainable development is achieved through cooperation, exchange, and joint learning – and USTP thus actively contributes to SDG 17.

About the SDG Topic Series

Within the framework of our SDG topic series, we dedicate ourselves to one of the 17 goals for sustainable development every week. The selected contributions serve as examples to illustrate how USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten contributes to a sustainable future. In doing so, we highlight diverse issues – from poverty in old age and ‘AI for Green’ to strategic partnerships and networks.
