USTP CityLounge Takes Research into Inner City

Pre-Opening at the Long Night of Research

Within the framework of the Long Night of Research, the USTP CityLounge, which is in the process of being newly created, opened its doors for the first time and offered an exclusive glimpse of this future meeting space.

USTP CityLounge: Wissen.schafft.Wohnzimer

Under the motto “Wissen.schafft.Wohnzimmer”, USTP is creating a space in Wiener Straße 9 that makes science accessible in a low-threshold manner and invites exchange. In a stimulating, homely atmosphere, visitors get to engage in exchange with students and researchers to learn more about forward-looking projects.

“With the new USTP CityLounge, the university takes another step towards openness, innovation, and lived science. This new meeting space takes research where people’s lives are taking place – right into the heart of our town. It intensifies the dialogue between science and the public, thus making St. Pölten even more liveable and future-oriented”, enthuses Mayor Matthias Stadler who celebrated the pre-opening together with Vice Mayor Michael Kögl, City Councillor Renate Gamsjäger, and USTP CEOs Hannes Raffaseder and Johann Haag.

The USTP CityLounge will be divided into three areas:

  • an open lounge for direct exchange,
  • an exhibition area with insight into research work,
  • and a room for presentations, workshops, and discussions.

Experimental media art of USTP

Visitors to the Long Night of Research were able to experience current research projects as well as digital and experimental media art at USTP first-hand. This contribution was created by the Masterclass “Experimental Media” of the Digital Design programme at USTP, under the direction of Markus Wintersberger and Christian Munk, and also offered a preview of the festival “Lucid Dreams Happy Palace”, which will take place on 22 and 23 May 2026.
