First-Hand Cloud Expertise
The AWS Student Builder Group at USTP Brought Together Students and Industry Experts in September
How can artificial intelligence and cloud technologies be successfully combined in practice? This question was explored by numerous students in September during the event “Intro to Hybrid AI Architecture & Real-World Cloud Stories” at USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten.
The event was organised by the AWS Student Builder Group at USTP, which gives students easy access to the latest developments in cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Participants gained valuable insights from two international industry experts and took part in a practical hands-on workshop.

Tech Talk: Fundamentals and Insights into Professional Practice
Linda Mohamed, Enterprise AI & Cloud Expert and AWS Hero, kicked off the event. In her session, she provided a clear introduction to the fundamentals of hybrid AI architectures and demonstrated how on-premises systems and cloud services can work together effectively.
Dmytro Hlotenko, Senior Cloud Ops Engineer and AWS Community Builder, then shared insights into his day-to-day work. He provided first-hand perspectives on career paths, challenges and current developments in cloud engineering.
Hands-On Workshop: AI Meets AWS
The concluding hands-on workshop was a particular highlight. At the workshop, students could actively engaged with cloud and AI technologies. The AWS Student Builder Workshop format equipped participants with practical experience as they worked collaboratively on their first applications.
“The event and the hands-on activities were deliberately designed to be beginner-friendly and to demonstrate how practical and accessible modern cloud technologies can be today,” says Andreas Jakl, who has supported the AWS Student Builder Group at USTP from the very beginning.
AWS Student Builder Group
The AWS Student Builder Group is driven by a dedicated core team of students. The initiative is led by Chahed Rajoub, a student in the Digital Healthcare master degree programme. The core team further includes Martin Ullmann (master degree programme Digital Healthcare), Georg Guenthoer (master degree programme Digital Healthcare), Weronika Ostrowicka (bachelor degree programme Creative Computing), Oleksandr Mizovets (bachelor degree programme IT Security) and Sofiia Prishchenko (bachelor degree programme Creative Computing).
Just as this successful event is over, preparations for the next gathering are already underway. The next event is expected to take place on 11 December 2026. Interested students are warmly invited to join the community and participate in future activities.
