Studying with a Child at USTP: FAQ

As USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten, we strive to create favourable conditions that enable students to balance multiple responsibilities, for example:

•  Studying and parenting
•  Studying and working

The specific circumstances vary depending on the degree programme. If you have any questions, please contact your study programme administration team. This is also the case if you are interested in a study programme and want to know more.

How to find the your study programme administration team: On the page of your chosen degree programme, click on “Team” and scroll down to the contact details until you reach the study programme administration team.

1.  You can apply for a leave of absence from your studies. Pregnancy also entitles you to apply for the waiver/refund of tuition fees and participation fees.

2. However, you should check whether it may be more beneficial to apply for an extension of student support due to pregnancy and childcare while remaining enrolled. The Social Affairs unit of the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) team in St. Pölten can advise you on this.

• Financial support options include childcare allowance, maternity benefit and family allowance.

• It is possible to apply for the  waiver/refund of tuition fees and participation fees in the event of pregnancy. You can submit your application to the CSC. Don’t forget to add relevant supporting documents.

• The campus has a parent-child-room.
• There are toilet facilities with baby changing tables.
• The canteen provides a highchair for children and offers children's portions.
•  The library includes a children’s corner with a wide selection of children’s books.

No, there is no kindergarten at the St. Pölten Campus. However, childcare is available during school holidays. This service is primarily intended for staff members, but you are welcome to apply for remaining places by sending us an email to gender_diversity@ustp.at.
