Bachelor programme Smart Engineering of Production Technologies and ProcessesDigitalisation has long since made its way into the industrial sector – and its applications are diverse. Learn how intelligent digital technologies can be effectively used to improve processes in various industrial sectors and further developed as needed.
By choosing electives, you have the opportunity to individualise your studies and specialise in key areas of expertise:
- Human-Machine Interaction
- Artificial Intelligence
- Industrial Security
- Cloud Computing
Basics: 1st and 2nd Semesters
To prepare students for the 3 specialised disciplines even if they do not come from a technical background, the 1st semester of the programme focuses primarily on the fundamentals of IT, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. In the 2nd semester, the focus shifts to internal business processes including, e.g., production planning and accounting.
Processes and Production: 3rd and 4th Semesters
In the 3rd semester, the students learn process analysis methods and apply them in dual projects. Corporate processes are reviewed using the acquired methods and examined in terms of their efficiency. Later in the 4th semester, the students optimise these corporate processes through digitalisation, automation, or organisational measures.
A Day in the Life of a Student
What is everyday life like for a Smart Engineering student? Follow sixth-semester student Kilian as he navigates between work, lectures, and projects:
Electives: 5th and 6th Semester
Students select one of 4 electives, thus setting priorities in one area of application:
Human-Machine Interaction
Artificial Intelligence
Industrial Security
Cloud Computing
Bachelor Thesis
Students can write their bachelor thesis either in parallel with the programme as a whole or during the 7th semester. They make this choice at the end of their 2nd semester by deciding whether to complete the programme in 6 or 7 semesters (the latter being a more work-friendly option).
Note: Students who originally opted for the 6-semester version may still choose to extend it to 7 semesters. Switching from 7 to 6 semesters is, however, not possible.
