Company Fair of the Railway Industry 2025
Under the motto “Karriere auf Schiene bringen” (bring your career on track), the Company Fair of the Railway Industry took place at USTP – University of Applied Sciences on 28 March 2025. A total of 46 companies presented themselves both on site and online and engaged in direct exchange with the 160 students of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility. Networking took centre stage: Companies outlined career paths and projects, while students established valuable contacts and gained insights into practice.
The keynote programme created additional impulses: Under the title “Innovation im Gleisbau – mehr als nur Technik“, Rhomberg Sersa Rail GmbH highlighted new perspectives in rail infrastructure. The company Weichenwerk Wörth GmbH held an interesting lecture on special switch logistics as well as surveying and routing services. It was a successful day for everyone involved – with an outlook to a mobile future.

What will the railway sector of tomorrow look like – and who will be involved in shaping it? The Company Fair of the Railway Industry at USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten on 26 April 2024 gave answers to these questions. 35 companies informed the students of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility about current developments, entry opportunities, and career paths. In an open atmosphere, students and companies came together in direct conversation and established valuable contacts for the future.
The fair was complemented by an informative programme of keynotes. ÖBB Infrastruktur AG presented the “Zielnetz 2040”, while the engineering firm PTB spoke about the challenges of network rehabilitation in Germany, and mm1 Austria addressed the topic of complex connectivity in rail travel. The event showcased how well education and practice go together at USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten.

An unprecedented number of 40 companies from the railway sector participated in the Company Fair of the Railway Industry at USTP – University of Applied Sciences on 28 April 2023. All present companies had the opportunity to forge direct contacts with students and graduates of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility. In addition to the lively trade fair, there were two highly interesting specialist lectures as well. The company Arsenal Race Certification GmbH addressed topics related to safety in the rail industry, while Salzburg AG spoke about the challenges faced by the railway on its path towards digitalisation.
The company fair was a success all around!

The seventh Company Fair of the Railway Industry took place at the new Camus St. Pölten on 22 April 2022. From large enterprises and international companies through regional and traditional railway businesses to system solution providers: With approximately 90 exhibitors from 27 businesses, the bachelor and master degree students of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility had the opportunity to meet renowned companies of the rail industry and transport sector and to take their first steps towards successful networking early on. The trade fair was followed by two exclusive expert lectures held by PTB Ingenieure GmbH and ÖBB. The speakers discussed the long-term management of shutdown periods as the basis for project success and presented the digitalisation in the field of track technology.

The virtual Firmenmesse der Bahnbranche took place on 7 May 2021 with 14 leading companies and 140 participating students.
Special times call for special solutions. Railway workers are used to performing at their best even under difficult circumstances. That is why this year's company fair for the rail industry took place in a completely new format. For the first time, 14 leading companies of the railway sector presented themselves to the students of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences in virtual rooms. In half-hour pitches, the company representatives presented their companies and were available to answer the students’ questions. The programme was rounded off by specialist presentations held by team Communication Technology Management GmbH and Thales Austria GmbH. The compulsory participation is part of the training programme in the bachelor and master degree programmes.

After a break in 2019, the company fair took place once again on 14 February 2020 with a record number of 23 participating companies from Austria, Germany, France and Switzerland. Two projects on major future topics of the transport industry were presented in expert lectures followed by lively discussion. The around 150 visitors of the event had plenty of opportunity to gather information and engage in discussions at eye level with the speakers and exhibiting companies over the course of the varied programme.

The company fair of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility took place for the fourth time on 14 September 2018. 15 companies from the railway sector seized the opportunity to establish contacts with around 150 interested visitors. This year, there were once again two exciting guest lectures on the topics “Do Railways Need Engineers?” and “Excursion Trains to Hyperloop: Elasticity for the Railway Superstructure”.

The 2017 Firmenmesse der Bahnbranche took place on 15 September as part of the semester opening of the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility. With around 15 exhibitors and 150 visitors, it was a successful and even bigger event than the previous year. The industry trends were discussed in the stimulating lectures “Future of Rail” and “Guaranteed Stopping Distances with Safe Sand?”.

On 16 September 2016, around 120 interested bachelor and master degree students as well as lecturers from the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility met 11 renowned international companies from the railway industry and transport sector for a personal exchange and presentation of the companies’ focus.
For the second time, the company fair was held as part of the semester opening in the Department of Rail Technology and Mobility by the Alumni and Career Center of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences.
