New Partnership between USTP and DHBW Heidenheim
The collaboration offers new perspectives for teaching and research while strengthening European networks in the field of dual higher education.
As part of a visit to USTP by representatives from St. Pölten’s twin towns of Heidenheim, Clichy, and Brno, a strategic university partnership was recently agreed between USTP and the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Heidenheim. The new partnership lays the foundation for long-term cooperation in teaching, research, and knowledge transfer.
Plans include, amongst other things, exchange programmes for students and teachers, joint research projects, and activities in the field of knowledge transfer. In addition, a bilateral Erasmus+ agreement is already in the pipeline.
Experience as Mutual Benefit
DHBW Heidenheim has many years’ expertise in the field of dual study programmes and is one of Germany’s leading universities in this area. For USTP, this partnership offers the opportunity to systematically expand its network in the context of dual study programmes beyond Austria and to benefit from the exchange of experience with an established partner university. The partnership is particularly relevant for USTP’s dual study programmes which closely combine academic study with professional practice.
“At the same time, this collaboration creates new opportunities for joint research and knowledge transfer activities as well as for the international exchange of students, lecturers, and researchers. This fosters new links between knowledge, practice, and application,” says Gabriele Permoser, Head of the Service and Competence Centre for Research and Cooperation.
Networking across Borders
The new partnership also builds on the long-standing town twinning arrangement between St. Pölten and Heidenheim. It not only links two universities, but also strengthens the exchange between two regions that regard education, innovation, and international cooperation as key issues for the future.
“The partnership opens up new avenues for students to gain international experience – whilst at the same time strengthening the European dimension of our university collaborations. This exchange is particularly valuable in the context of dual higher education, as it brings together different educational models, practical experience, and perspectives”, adds Daniela Lohner, Head of USTP’s International Office.
Through this new university partnership, USTP and DHBW Heidenheim strengthen European exchange in dual higher education – and create new opportunities for teaching, research, and professional practice.
