USTP Student Wins 3D Audio Competition

We congratulate our master class student Elisa Polov on her outstanding work “Don’t Go Near the Edge”

A big success for USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten: Elisa Polov, enrolled in the master class 3D Audio & Sound Design, won the first prize in the category of Music Recording / Studio Production in the International Students 3D Audio Production Competition in Ambisonics.

Her winning piece ''Don’t Go Near the Edge'' is a minimalistic and atmospheric composition that blends vocals, piano, orchestral instruments, and electroacoustic elements and spatial effects to create an immersive acoustic experience.

The finals and the award ceremony took place 13 November 2025 during Tonmeistertagung33 in Düsseldorf. You can watch the video recordings of the ceremony here.

The competition is a cooperation between the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) of University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and Verband Deutscher Tonmeister (VDT). This year’s categories included Contemporary / Computer Music, Audio Drama / Documentary / Soundscapes and Music Recording / Studio Production.

The finalists came from England, the US, Austria, Germany, Poland, and Estonia. In total, 41 students and student teams from 14 countries submitted their productions.
